OAK - The University of Sheffield
SETA is coordinated by the Organisations, Information and Knowledge (OAK) Group at the Department of Computer Science. The department was ranked as 5th in the UK in 2014.
OAK's Director is Professor Fabio Ciravegna, Professor of Language and Knowledge Technologies. The group has 3 academics, 7 Research Associates and Assistants, and 5 full-time PhD students. Its main research focus is data and information acquisition and management over large scale.
It's research funds since 2005, exceed £8.5m from the European Commission, EPSRC, AHRC, JISC, Innovate UK, industry and government: Rolls-Royce, Football Whispers, Public Health England, Just Giving, etc.
The Group was shortlisted twice for the Rolls-Royce Research & Technology Director’s Creativity Award and it created 2 spin-out companies: K-now Technologies Ltd and the Floow Ltd on large scale data analysis and management.

OAK are currently providing technologies and service filtering millions of social media messages to model the likelihood of players’ transfer in football on behalf of footballwhispers.com, a site with over 2.5M unique monthly visitors.
They are also providing technologies for tracking health and wellbeing via mobile phones for Public Health England (Active 10 Tracking app, over 45,000 users expected to grow to hundreds of thousands by the end of the 2017 summer).
